Debra Beireis Carneol

Debra Beireis Carneol

Debra Beireis Carneol is a 1984 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Debra was a 4-sport athlete for the Rams, including Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field, and Softball and was a National Honor Society honoree and member of the Spanish Club. Debra was a member of the 1983 Women’s Basketball team that qualified for state, and also was a member of the Shuttle Hurdle Relay that competed at the Drake Relays.

Following graduation in 1984, Debra attended the University of Iowa and completed her Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1992. Debra Carneol has practiced dentistry at North Liberty Dental, a practice she owns, since 1996.

In recent years, Debra has taken up running, competing in a variety of events throughout the country. On January 28, 2018, Debra began the races in the World Marathon Challenge, completing 7 marathons, in 7 days, on 7 continents. The races began in Novo-Antarctica and traveled to Cape Town-South Africa, Perth-Australia, Dubai-United Arab Emirates, Madrid-Spain, Barranquilla-Columbia, and Miami-United States. 

Robert Dean

Robert Dean

Robert Dean is a 1954 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Beginning his high school career at Loras Academy (the predecessor to Wahlert Catholic High School), he transferred to Dubuque Senior to compete and play for legendary coach Johnny Orr. In addition to basketball, Robert competed on the Track & Field team for the Rams in the broad jump and high jump. He held the school record in the high jump at 6’ 1.5” for 15 years until it was broken in 1969.

Following graduation, Robert went straight to the work force at John Deere-Dubuque works in the Engineering Division. He continued to play basketball in the area playing for John Deere, Star Brewery, and Dubuque Pack.

On at least 20 occasions, the local teams Robert Dean played on were asked to compete against the Harlem Globetrotters when they visited the area. On two different occasions, well after Robert’s playing days were over, he was honored by the Harlem Globetrotters for his contributions to the sport of basketball and involvement with the traveling team’s history in the Dubuque area. 

Angie Mohr Germaine

Angie Mohr Germaine

Angie Mohr Germaine was a 3-sport athlete for the Rams during her high school career, which concluded with her graduation in 1990. Angie competed in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field at Dubuque Senior High School. She was a state track participant her Junior and Senior years, an all-conference volleyball player, and all-conference and all-state basketball player. Angie scored over 1000 points in her career for the Rams on the Basketball court, was on the IGHSAU All-Tournament team during her Junior year, and was selected to represent Iowa on the 5-on-5 all star team following her Senior year.

She went on to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Northern Iowa. Angie Mohr Germaine resides in Dubuque where she has taught and coached in a variety of positions for the Dubuque Community School District. 

Harlan Riegler

Harlan Riegler

Harlan Riegler is a 1928 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. While a Ram, he participated on the Football team under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Wilbur Dalzell. Dalzell picked a “dream team” of all of the teams he coached and he selected Harlan Riegler as one of those players; a guard whom Dalzell referred to as an aggressive, tough player, and great down-field blocker. Riegler was also known as an “Iowa All-State Gridder”. Harlan was a member of the National Athletic Honor Society and a member of the D Club at Dubuque Senior High School.

Harlan was involved in the student government as a House of Representatives member as Junior and as member of the Senate as a Senior. He was also listed as an Honor Roll graduate in the 1928 graduation program. 

Natalie White

Natalie White

Natalie White is a 2005 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and competed in Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field, and Tennis for the Rams. She earned 10 major-D’s during her career and was a state participant in Track & Field for 3 years in the 4×800 m relay, 4x400m relay, and 800 m run. Natalie was an exceptional athlete on the Basketball court. A 4-year starter for the Rams, she was a 4-time all-conference selection, and 2-time all-state selection (1st team her Senior year). She averaged 25 ppg and 9 rpg her Senior year. Natalie was named the Dubuque Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2005. She also served as National Honor Society President in 2004-05.

Natalie earned a scholarship to San Jose State University where she played basketball for 4 years; she ranked in the top 10 of several career and season records for the Spartans, while being named All-Academic all four years in the Western Athletic Conference.

Natalie White served as Assistant Women’s Basketball coach at Kirkwood Community College for two years, including the National Championship season in 2016-17. Natalie is currently employed at The Mobile Pack in Iowa City.
