Sports Hall of Fame – 2013
DEVIN GARRITYDevin Garrity is a 1987 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Devin was a standout athlete in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track and Field for the Rams. He garnered success in all every sport he participated in, earning 8 major D’s during his high school career. Overcoming injuries on several occasions during High School Wrestling, Devin had a 71-11-1 record for the Rams. Devin earned a scholarship to wrestle at Iowa State University. Following two neck injuries with the Cyclones, Devin was forced to retire from competitive wrestling. Devin Garrity resides in Florida where he has continued his connection to sports as a Florida High School wrestling official, working several state meets.

THEATRICE GIBBSTheatrice Gibbs was a 1934 graduate of Senior High School. Theatrice Gibbs was a First Team All-State Football player for the Rams in 1933 and also was a team captain. He also competed in Track and Field while in High School. Theatrice attending the University of Dubuque and competed in Football and Track and Field, earning 4 letters in each sport. Theatrice was a school record holder in the 100 yard dash for a time, and was a member of several relays that competed at the Drake Relays. Theatrice Gibbs was the Director of the YMCA in Rochester, New York. Theatrice Gibbs passed away in 1967.

MARY GOEDKENMary Goedken is a 1983 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Mary Goedken is the all-time scoring leader for 6-on-6 basketball at Senior H.S. In 1983 she earned all-state recognition and was an All-Conference selection in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Collegiately, Mary competed at Drake and Loras College. In 1987, Mary Goedken was an All-Iowa Conference selection, NCAA D-III 1st Team All Region, and NCAA D-III Honorable Mention All-American selection. Mary Goedken has been a successful high school English teacher at several eastern Iowa schools since graduating from college.

ELLY GLASS HINDERSElly Glass Hinders was a 2000 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Elly was a standout cross country and track and field competitor for the Rams. She was a 4x letter winner in both Cross Country and Track and Field during her high school career. Elly finished in the top 10 at State Cross Country for each of her 4 years competing. She was a 4x place winner at the Drake Relays in the 3000m run and was a 4x state qualifier in several events during Track and Field. Elly Glass Hinders attended UNI and ran Cross Country and Track for the Panthers until her graduation in 2004.

CHARLES JUERGENSCharles Juergens is a 1958 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Charles was a participant in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field for the Rams during his high school career. He earned All State recognition in Football, and All-conference recognition in Basketball. Charles attended the University of Dubuque where he played football for the Spartans. Following graduation, Charles Juergens coached Football at Jefferson Middle School and at Hempstead High School. In addition to teaching in the Dubuque Community School District, Charles taught hunter safety courses through the Isaac Walton and Pheasants Forever organizations.

PAT MURPHYPat Murphy is a 1967 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Pat competed in football, basketball, and track and field while in high school. Pat attended the University of Northern Iowa, earning his teaching degree in 1971. Beginning in 1973, Pat Murphy began a teaching and coaching career at Dubuque Senior High School that continues today (he retired as a teacher a few years ago, but continues to coach). Pat held several football coaching positions for the Rams, including head coach from 1989 to 2003. He was MVC and State of Iowa coach of the year in 1997 and 1998. Starting in 1979, Pat Murphy has led the Women’s Track program for the Rams which has led to 10 State Champions athletes and 2 Drake Relays Champions

PAM ORRIS VEDEPOPam Orris Vedepo is a 2001 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Pam competed in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track and Field for the Rams during her high school career. She distinguished herself as the most outstanding track athlete in school history by winning the 100m Dash at Drake Relays and two IGHSAU state championships. Pam Orris Vedepo set 8 school records, 7 of which still stand today. Her time of 11.81 in the 100m Dash is one of the 10 fastest in Iowa history. Pam attended Loras College and ran track for the Duhawks. She was a 4x All-American for the Duhawks and broke several school records while graduating Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Business Marketing and Business Management.
